First Robotics Competition - Week 1

The game is revealed

The First Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 4917 is powering up for the 2018 FRC challenge. The team from Elmira District Secondary School (EDSS) known as Sir Lancerbots, attended an event with all the local competitors where the 2018 game was revealed through a fun video called First Power Up.

FRC Power Up

FRC Team 4917 has an excellent website where you can watch their progress during the six week design and build phase. Then their creation will be put to the test in competitions throughout Ontario. The top Canadian contenders will earn spots in the FIRST Robotics Global Championship to be held in Detroit this year.

This is the fifth year that SYSTEMATIX has sponsored the EDSS team in the FRC competition which combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources and a short time limit, teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team brand, hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to “real-world” engineering as a student can get.
